Pets need People-Success Stories

To Provide An Online Network That Connects Pets With People

Pets need People Success Stories:

Our Network wants to share success stories with everyone.

We just started taking about an hour out of our day to look at all the LOST and FOUND listings in the Columbia/Jefferson City area.  We have actually helped several people locate their lost pets simply by matching up areas, descriptions and pictures.

It is so great to contact the owner to tell them that we have found their pet!

Story:

Last fall a 6 month old kitten was found.  She was pregnant.  We named her MeMe.

She was taken in by our network group.  She ending up having five kittens.  Delivered by two of us. One kitten only lived 3 days but the other four were healthy.  They stayed at a foster home that had a recovery room.

We get to see them all... even Momma at their new forever homes!

Story:

At Christmas time a kitten was rescued. She was on her own and the weather was getting cold so we stepped in and trapped her. She found a forever home and is now living with several cats and a dog.

Her name is Etta Boo.

  Story:

Female Kitty was dumped on a dirt road and taken by a wonderful family that wanted to find her a forever home.

Success Story 10-1-2010

I just wanted you to know that yesterday morning I received a call from nice young lady asking if I still had the kitten.  I told her that I did and she wanted to come see her.  I met her at the house on my lunch hour and showed the little kitten to her, who gave her kitty licks right away. (I think that sealed the deal!)  She said that while she was having her baby, her cat that looked like the kitty ran away, and that just the night before, their dog had passed away!  I felt like she needed the kitty as much as the kitty needed her.  So after talking and getting kisses from the kitty, she said I want her, and off they road to the kitty’s new forever home in Mexico, MO. Many Thanks to your organization for helping us with this little drop off.  You and your web site are awesome!!!

Thanks again, Brenda McCoy

Story:

Five puppies were found road side and taken in by an individual who was determined to find everyone of them homes.

Success Story 8-10-2010

Glad to announce that all five of the puppies now have new loving         homes. The little boy was adopted by the foster mom and the two remaining little girls went to the same home.   They now live in Ashland and have 30 acres to play on.  We had a very nice lady donate money towards the puppies medical expenses.  A big thank you to her.  What a kind person.   A lot of people stepped up to help these little guys out and I really appreciate it.        Thank you so much for your help.  Lori

Success Story:

Emily just contacted us to tell us that she has found someone to keep Merlin so she can keep him. This was what she was hoping for when we started this journey with her last year. If you remember, she had another dog, Casey, the Golden Retriever.  We found him a great home with a family in the country.  Emily has received many updates from them about him and he is going wonderful!

Emily wants to thank everyone that helped her in her journey.  Merlin just turned 10 in January so I am glad that he will still have Emily in his life!

8/26/2011-

Eight years ago my dad brought home a beautiful little Australian Shepherd puppy and named him Aussie.  He became dad’s loyal companion.  Recently, dad went through a number of health issues that required surgery and some time in a skilled nursing facility.  When he returned home he was unable to care for Aussie and both of us were at a loss of what to do.  I contacted the two major no kill facilities in Columbia and couldn’t get them to return my calls or answer emails.  Because of Aussie’s age we didn’t want to take him to the Humane Society because we feared the chance of adoption was low.  During a conversation with a co-worker, another co-worker overheard my concern and referred me to PetsNeedPeople.   I contacted Bobbi Wilson and immediately the wheel started turning.  Bobbi worked with an Australian Shepherd rescue group in St. Louis and tomorrow Aussie will be on his way to his new foster family.  He will have a brother and sister, plus a lot of space to roam.  In addition, a very kind hearted donor paid for Aussie’s veterinary care since my dad is on a fixed income.  I will never be able to thank Bobbi and Scott enough for all of the help they gave my dad and Aussie.  It wasn’t an easy decision for my dad to let him go, but knowing he was going to a good home has helped him make that difficult decision.  Pets do need people and thanks to Bobbi and Scott Wilson, Aussie has a home and my dad has peace of mind.

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.
